Chefchaouen 2023
Chefchaouen, nicknamed The Blue City, is known for its buildings in shades of blue. Historically it dates back to the 15th century, primarily populated at that time by Muslim and Jewish immigrants fleeing from Spain’s Reconquista. One theory is that the buildings were painted blue as a sign of welcome and safety to those fleeing Spain. I found it to be a delightful town, full of friendly locals, and a highlight of Morocco.
