The Northern Lights! My 15 minutes of fame! This image went viral, with a total of over 4000 likes and 400 shares on FB, was picked up by REI, and will appear in the Seattle Times!! Here is what I wrote on FB
On July 12 there was a solar flare on the sun. On July 14 the flare hit the earth, allowing the aurora borealis [Northern Lights] to be seen well south of the Arctic. I happened to be leading a climb of Little Tahoma on July 14. We arose to prepare for our summit climb at 2am, at the height of the show! To the naked eye, one could see only white lights. But the 30 second exposure of my camera captured the colors of the Northern Lights! After the show, we summited Little Tahoma (11,138'), the third highest peak in Washington, in a 17 hr push from basecamp, and back to the cars.
